Mothers deserve systems that show up for them.
Support only works if mothers know it exists, and if the systems around them are built to catch them. That’s why MOMentum works beyond our own groups, raising awareness and advocating for change alongside partners across Westchester.
Why it matters
White women

Black women

Indigenous women

Care isn’t reaching everyone equally. In a national study, Indigenous women were about three times as likely, and Black women about twice as likely, as white women to have unmet needs for depression treatment or mental health counseling.

What we’re doing
Naming what mothers feel. We’re helping more mothers learn the word matrescence, the identity shift that comes with becoming a mother.
Community screenings. We co-host documentary screenings that open honest conversations about motherhood in America, including No Country for Mothers, a documentary from Moms First and Culture House.
Investing in equity. We’re building training and support for perinatal professionals of color, and scholarships so cost never keeps a mother away.
Training the people who care for mothers. Our upcoming CEU trainings will help providers recognize perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and connect mothers to care.
Standing with national advocates. We champion organizations working for systemic change, including Moms First and the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health.
