A soft place to land.
For moms, by moms.
OUR STORY
We built the place we were looking for.
In April 2020, Shoshanna gave birth to her first child, just as the pandemic shut everything down. The support she had carefully arranged, a meal train and her mother coming to stay, disappeared overnight. As a perinatal mental health counselor, she knew how hard early motherhood could be, but knowing didn’t make it easier.
Sloan had spent years as a social worker alongside women in the hardest stretches of new motherhood, watching women struggle without enough support while the systems around them stayed the same. In 2021, she became a mother herself and experienced firsthand what she had witnessed in her work.
Shoshanna and Sloan met through a local therapists’ group. One coffee turned into an afternoon of talking about motherhood and the families they saw struggling without support. By the time they left, they had decided to build MOMentum together.

WHY COMMUNITY
Mothers who feel supported do better.
In a 2024 study of nearly 5,900 Illinois mothers, those with low social support had six times the odds of postpartum depression symptoms compared with mothers who had strong support. Connection matters.
MEET THE FOUNDERS
The moms behind MOMentum
Shoshanna Rome, LMHC, PMH-C
Co-founder and perinatal mental health therapist
I started MOMentum because I kept seeing the same gaps. So many mothers are doing their best without a real community around them. I wanted to create a place where moms could feel like they truly belong, and find the kind of relationships that last a lifetime, and that carry into their children’s lives too. My hope is that each mom finds what works for her, and that together we build something stronger for all of us.
Sloan Post, LCSW, PMH-C
Co-founder, perinatal mental health therapist, and founder
of Westchester Parent & Child Therapy
I started MOMentum because, as both a mother and a therapist, I saw how much mothers are expected to keep moving while quietly carrying more than anyone realizes. I wanted to create what I often wished existed: a place where support is woven into everyday motherhood, rather than something moms have to struggle to find once they are already overwhelmed.
Who is MOMentum for?
Everyone building a family belongs here.
At MOMentum, all women are women. When we say “mothers” and “moms,” we mean everyone who identifies with motherhood: birthing, adoptive, foster, nonbinary, and nonbiological parents who grew their families through IVF, surrogacy, and egg, sperm, and embryo donation. Queer, gay, and trans families are welcome here.
